Professor Michael Graetzel gave his no objection to ECO1 for continuing its research and development of the DSSC in Guyana, which is good news. He also expressed his delight in our interest in the technology and our work so far. ECO1 will now seek to take its research to another level. It is expected that this is another step in bringing green energy to Guyana and hopefully contribute to Guyana's aim for a low carbon economy.

ECO1 collaborated with the Guyana Scouts to host an Earth Day Forum, which focused on environmental issues and the drivers of environmental degradation. Scouts then made their promises for individual green acts which was fixed to a 'Promise tree'. Scouts also drew up contents for a Green Charter which will encourage all scouts to observe environmentally conscious acts during their scouting activities.

ECO1's R&D team has produced a DSSC (Grätzel cell) prototype, made from scratch, giving a boost to the possibility of producing solar cells in Guyana, and promoting more sustainable lifestyles for Guyanese.

ECO1's R&D team has produced conductable glass, a milestone in producing Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) locally.
