Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC)
It is hoped that this device can be produced in Guyana at an affordable cost. The finished product will therefore be more affordable and thus put solar energy into the reach of more Guyanese.Trials in replicating the DSSC in Guyana are ongoing updates are given in the blogs.
Biodegradable takeaway food boxes
There is a great need in Guyana for biodegradable food boxes, as the currently popular styrofoam boxes contribute significantly to Guyana's solid waste problems. Research is ongoing to look into producing an alternative from sugarcane byproducts locally.
Water Wheel Mini Project - Alternative Energy
Plans are being made to generate energy from installing waterwheels in rivers and creeks. Homes and small businesses can benefit greatly from cheap, renewable energy, particularly in poor and remote locations.
