Update 2009

Currently we are working (as time permits - we all have jobs!) on the following:

- biodegradeable, organic food boxes made from local material. Some real progress has been made here.

- a cheap solar panel to be made locally. Progress has been made sourcing materials.

More soon...

ECO1 registration

Registration has finally been achieved using a Trust Deed. More details later...

We have started a small project to increase awareness about the problems steming from the use of plastic foam for food boxes etc.

November update

Disappointment - a notice has gone up at Durban Backlands indicating the land belongs to a hotel group!

While waiting on registration we are working on a proposal for another project.

Making a start...

We are starting Eco1 with lots of big ideas - and trying not to get too ambitious! This blog will contain bits and pieces about what we do and hope to do.

The number of people involved continues to increase slowly, must be more than a dozen, not all are members.

One trip was made to a village with flooding problems in Mahaica River.Another trip was made to Durban backlands area to look at wildlife.

The constitution is being finalised since getting registered as an NGO is a priority. Projects are being planned... more later.
